Find Funnel Falls For A Fabulous Ozark Forest Feature In Arkansas
Not only does Arkansas have the best waterfalls in the world (we may be a bit biased) but our plethora of cascades also come in a surprising variety of forms. We have towering giants like Hemmed-In Hollow, hole-in-the rock finds like Glory Hole, and bubbling spouts like Tea Kettle Falls. Another fabulous find in the forest is Funnel Falls. Let’s explore the short trail and enjoy this unique waterfall:

It's actually two waterfalls, East Funnel Falls and West Funnel Falls, but we'll get to that in a moment. The area is is rather difficult to find, but once you've found the trail, it's an easy hike. The waterfalls are off of Highway 341. For detailed directions, we recommend reading this blog. Keep in mind a 4-wheel drive vehicle is best for navigating in this wilderness.

Dogs, kids, and even horses can take on this trail! The little hike is under a mile and leads downhill. Although the hike is short, there are boulders to climb on before reaching the pair of waterfalls.

West Funnel Falls is an aptly-named gem in the forest. The water hugs the ledge and funnels down into the pool below. It's about 40 feet tall and creates quite a serene little grove. Next, let's find its neighbor, East Funnel Falls.

East Funnel Falls is similar to Glory Hole since the water flows through a worn hole in the ledge instead of over it. It towers a bit taller than its western neighbor at approximately 52 feet tall!

Not only does this waterfall funnel through the rock above, there's also a natural bridge! Take your time to explore above and below the waterfall. Just take caution at the top; the cracks in the rock can be a fall hazard.

As with any hike, be sure to research the area further before heading out. For a GPS-friendly map, download the one here.
