There’s no better place than Cove Lake, a 160-acre scenic lake that sits in the shadow of the highest point in Arkansas, Mount Magazine. The restrooms there have hot showers. There’s drinking water, a boat dock, a swimming area, perfect spots for fishing, and even a concession stand and boat rentals. It’s the perfect place to spend a weekend getting away from it all while ensuring you don’t succumb to heat exhaustion in the process.

...or if you have company. The whole lake is a no-wake zone during weekends and holidays, so it’s perfect for swimming.

Don’t own a kayak? That’s OK. You can rent paddleboats, canoes, and kayaks to explore the shoreline from the water.

Fishing is great there too, as the lake is stocked every other year with bass, catfish, and perch.

There are 24 picnic areas and 28 campsites. The campsites are especially cool because you can wake up and walk down to watch the sunrise over the lake.

Cove Lake is only about 15 minutes from the adorable town of Paris.
