This Spring Is Forecast To Be The Most Active Tornado Season Arkansas Has Seen In Years
2019 isn’t even halfway over but it’s already been a whirlwind for Arkansans. What began as an unusually mild winter, has created the perfect conditions for springtime waterfalls and a plethora of monarch butterflies. Unfortunately this weather has also lead to a surge of ticks and tornadoes. Although we’re used to weathering the storms (both ticks and tornadoes), this year has really tested our resilience.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Tornado season won't be over until June but we're already on the leader board. We're in the top 10 for tornado hits with 18 recorded tornadoes. Thankfully we're no where near close to the #1 spot, which is currently Mississippi with a whopping 83.

The tornado that touched down in Pine Bluff earlier this month left four injured but thankfully no causalities. The storm did cause walls to cave at an apartment complex, however. Other areas have suffered from flooding as well as toppled trees and power poles.

The super tornado outbreaks of 2008 and 2011 truly tested Arkansans' perseverance. If you'd like to read more about those devastating storms, click right here.

Tornado season should be over by June but that doesn't mean we'll be staying indoors until then. The heavy rains have made waterfall chasing a total dream.
But as always, be safe and know when to get off the porch and take shelter during a tornado.

If you’d rather wait for the more consistent weather of summer before enjoying nature, plan for one of these lazy floats.
