Spend The Night Under A Tepee At This Unique Arizona Campground
It’s no secret that camping is one of our favorite activities here in Arizona. When you live in a state teeming with natural beauty, spending time outdoors is just a part of life around here. That said, campgrounds can start looking the same after staying in so many, so if you’re looking for a change-of-pace, try swapping your usual tent for a tepee at Flagstaff KOA. Check them out:
Nestled in a grove of towering ponderosa pines and sitting at an elevation of 7,000 feet, this gorgeous mountain campground is an ideal destination for your next family getaway.
You won’t be "roughing it" - you’ll find restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, an on-site grocery store, and even wifi here - but it is an excellent spot to relax in a comfortable setting surrounded by natural beauty.
Flagstaff KOA offers plenty of tent sites, RV patio spaces, and both deluxe and rustic cabin rentals, but some of the most unique lodging options here are the authentic tepees.
The regular tepees have a single bed and a bunk-style full bed, so they can comfortably sleep up to four people. Keep in mind that sheets and bed linens are not provided, so don’t forget to bring some along!
Though not much larger than the regular ones, these tepees offer a futon instead of a full bed in addition to the single bed, which makes a tad more room and can sleep up to five. As with the regular tepees, you’ll have to bring your own linens for the beds.
Outside of each tepee, there is a picnic table and chairs that allow you to take in all the sights and sounds of nature without straying far at all.
You’ll find immense beauty around every corner in Arizona, and sometimes the best way to experience it is simply by sitting in stillness.
The tepees alone are worth a trip to this cool campground, but it gets even better: the Flagstaff KOA is just a stone's throw away from Meteor Crater, the Red Rocks of Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, and several other amazing natural features.
Tours of these destinations leave right from the campground, and there are even a few trails accessible on foot from your site!
Flagstaff KOA is open year-round and is located at 5803 North US Hwy. 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. You can find more information about the campground, tepees, and learn about all of the fun outdoor activities nearby on their website here. Rental reservations can be made online through their website or by calling (800)-562-3524.
