Arizona is no stranger to ghost stories, and many of them surround famous hotels such as the notoriously haunted Jerome Grand Hotel. One lesser-known hotel that also happens to be crawling with spirits is Hotel Vendome, which is over 100 years old and has been painstakingly restored to accommodate the changing times – without disturbing those who haunt its halls, of course.
Conveniently located near Prescott's Courthouse Square and Whiskey Row, Hotel Vendome was built in 1917 to help with the town's housing demand caused by the boom of the mining industry.
The spirit of a woman named Abby, who owned the hotel along with her husband in the 1920s, allegedly stalks the halls. She suffered from tuberculosis and died tragically after the sudden disappearance of her other half.
That's where she and her husband resided after losing the hotel due to unpaid taxes (the new owners were generous enough to allow them to stay in exchange for managing the Vendome).
Ghosts aren't the only spirits to be found here, either.
There's a full bar open daily all year long, serving craft beer, wine, champagne, and soda, with an emphasis on local and seasonal offerings. With seating available both indoors and on the spacious patio, it's the perfect place to grab a drink and mingle with friends and new faces alike.
Address: 230 South Cortez Street, Prescott, AZ 86303.
Please call (928) 776-0900 with any questions you may have.
Please note: the bar is currently closed to non-hotel guests. Visit the hotel’s website or Facebook page to learn more.
