As New Yorkers, we take our food selections and pairings very seriously, and we’re not afraid to voice our concern (or disgust) if you do things differently. Perhaps nowhere in the state is this as true as when you’re dining in Buffalo. If you’re new around here and want to fit in, consider this your guide to dining like a New Yorker – an unofficial rulebook, if you will. If you’re strolling through town and have a hankering for some authentic Buffalo, New York foods, committing these unforgivable food faux-pas in Buffalo is a sure way to get pinned as a tourist!

Do not – I repeat – DO NOT do this. This is the ultimate Buffalo food faux-pas. Under no circumstance should your wings be dipped in anything other than bleu cheese.

No other type of hot dog grills up better than a Sahlens, and Buffalonians are very loyal to these summertime favorites. If you're invited to a backyard BBQ in Buffalo, be warned: bringing any other brand will leave you mocked and ridiculed (and probably left without an invitation for the next gathering).
