Cathedral Of The Pines Is An Otherworldly Destination Near The New Hampshire Border

There are a lot of ways to enjoy the peaceful nature found throughout New Hampshire. And, when you really need to clear your head there's nothing better than finding some quiet in areas meant to provide an escape. While there are tons of hikes and trails to explore, we're really looking forward to spending some time at the place we're telling you about today.

You’ll find Cathedral Pines nestled in the woods in the town of Rindge. And it’s hard to describe what it feels like to visit unless you’ve already been there. But we’re going to give it a try and hope you’ll be able to find some time to visit yourself.

The outdoor chapel is a place meant for people of all faiths to come together in appreciation for the fresh air and breezes that sweep through.

It was built as a memorial to wartime service. Specifically, it honors Sandy Sloane, a World War II pilot who didn't return home to New Hampshire after the war.

Throughout the area, you’ll find places to worship in whatever form that takes for you. This need not be a religious place, necessarily. Pay special attention to the Altar of the Nation, dedicated in 1947 to honor those killed in the war.

And paying homage to women who have served the country, The Women's Memorial Bell Tower is also a stunning sight.

Be sure to find Mother’s Chapel, as well. It was built to honor Sandy Sloane’s sister, Peg Brummer.

If you visit with the intent of prayer, or if you just try to find some peace and quiet, this area is something worth taking in — especially with Grand Monadnock Mountain towering in the distance.

Spending time here is nothing short of glorious and we’re so lucky to have it right here in New England.
