There’s No Attraction In The World Like This One In South Carolina
The world’s largest figurative sundial can be found in Hilton Head at Shelter Cove Harbour. As the largest of its kind, there’s truly no other attraction in the world like this one in South Carolina.
Designed and installed by sculptor Wayne Edwards, the King Neptune sundial has become an icon in Hilton Head, greeting visitors to the popular Shelter Cove Harbour in all seasons.
In his "previous ventures," Neptune was the Roman god of the sea. For the last 33 years he and his sundial have been offering up the official time for Shelter Cove patrons. Well...that, and posing for a lot of photographs.
This giant bronze statue was crafted in New Jersey and then shipped via truck to its final spot, strategically placed by engineers to ensure accuracy. King Neptune is mounted on a perfect circle with numbers representing the time of day inscribed in the ground.
