Even though we are one of the flattest states in the union, there is still an amazing array of water features in our state. Where? The area formerly known as Sicily Island WMA , now known as J.C. “Sonny” Gilbert WMA, is the place to go. The WMA can be found between Monroe and Alexandria, just west of Sicily Island. Let’s explore it:

The Big Creek Hiking Trail is seven miles of mature mixed-pine hardwoods.

Smaller falls and cascades dot the area.
But the largest waterfall, Rock Falls, can be found on the Rock Fall Trail.
Rock Falls, pictured here, is said to be 17ft tall and estimated to be the tallest in the state.
