10 Things You Miss The Most When You Leave Louisiana
People from Louisiana miss unique aspects of their state when they travel elsewhere.
There’s one thing that every person from Louisiana has to learn at some point or another: There’s just no where quite like our state. When people from Louisiana go out of town, there’s a lot of stuff you have to learn to get used to--and man is it hard. Here are 10 things you miss the most:
1. The sun
The winter in other states just doesn’t work for people in Louisiana. Just no.
2. Bars and restaurants staying open
In most Louisiana cities and towns, there’s at least one place you can get a bite to eat or a drink in the later evening hours. In other places—not so much.
3. Flavor
Ok, ok, there’s flavor in other places. But I’m talking about that Louisiana flavor! Sometimes there’s stuff even Tony’s can’t fix. They call this gumbo. Ha.
4. Good coffee
While we’re on the subject of flavor, a standard cup of coffee in Alabama just doesn’t cut it. Freeze dried and instant? Ech.
5. People not freaking out about bugs
When you’re somewhere else and there are 2-3 mosquitos around, out comes the OFF. In Louisiana, that’s a blessing!
6. Other people from Louisiana
When you meet someone else from the state at a restaurant or bar, it’s like an instant connection!
7. Eye contact
As soon as I step foot somewhere else, I feel like I’m the friendliest person in the world.
8. Relaxed people
When you leave Louisiana, it feels like the whole world is in a rush.
9. Free festivals
In other states, they have half the stuff we have and it costs money to get in. That’s why they end up empty.
10. Actually, free anything
In a lot of Louisiana communities, it’s not that hard to find a place to sit and listen to free live music, get a bite to eat on Saint’s game days, or simply rest your legs in a beautiful spot in the middle of the day. In other places, it is.
