It’s less than a month to Halloween and though the temperatures haven’t shown it, fall is officially here. As the leaves start to change and you start to plan your costume, you might want to start thinking about a unique way to see the state and head home with a pumpkin, as well.
Across Wisconsin there are trains with fall specials meant to take you among the foliage and celebrate all things fall. Plan to hitch a ride on one of these pumpkin trains for an awesome Wisconsin autumn experience.
1. Mid-Continent Railway Museum - North Freedom
Climb aboard the Pumpkin Special and make your way to Quartzite Lake where pumpkins from a local grower await your arrival.
This pumpkin train is available on October 14 and 15 and has four departure times for the hour round-trip ride - 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm and 2:30 pm.

2. Riverside and Great Northern Railway - Wisconsin Dells
These folks have a 15-gauge light railway that runs every Saturday and Sunday in October from 10 am - 4 pm every hours on the hour.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children. Every child under the age of 12 goes home with a free pumpkin.

3. Little Amerricka - Marshall
This vintage amusement park offers an awesome fall experience before they shut down for the season.
The two-mile long Whiskey River Railroad operates on October 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 starting at 10 am with the last train departing at 3:30 pm.

4. Minnesota Transport Museum - Osceola
Don't let the name fool you - this place is in Osceola and offers an awesome weekend of family pumpkin fun.
On Friday, October 20, Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22, 2017 the train departs from Osceola Depot at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm & 1:30 pm. It takes you to the Dresser Depot where you'll find free pumpkins for children aged 15 years and younger, a "gentle haunted depot," bean bag toss, fish pond, kid's coloring/craft table, wagon rides, hand-pump car rides, two bouncy castles, face painting, a marshmallow roast, a hay bale maze, live music and more!
The train goes back to Osceola every hour on the hour with the last one departing at 4 pm. Spend as much time at the Dresser Depot as you'd like before heading back. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 5-15, $5 for toddlers ages 4 and under, and free for infants. Located at 114 Depot Road, Osceola, WI 54020.
5. The National Railroad Museum - Green Bay
This place is an awesome stop no matter the time of year, but in fall you get to ride a pumpkin train rain or shine and head out to a pumpkin patch.
There will be indoor live entertainment, crafts, and games for children of all ages, plus the train ride and a pumpkin to take home.
