There’s nothing quite so comforting and filling as a well-made sandwich. What constitutes a sandwich is a source of constant and oftentimes entertaining debate, but the fact that there are just so many amazing options out there make it one of the best and most versatile meals you can find.
There are a ton of interesting, delicious and wonderful sandwiches being made around the state (and we’d love to hear more about them in the comments), but in the meantime, here are 13 sandwiches to start you off:
1. Tenuta's Deli - Kenosha
The Muffolotta is a version of a New Orleans classic that feeds 8-10 people and contains sweet peppers, mortadella, ham, hot capicolla, genoa salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce, and Italian dressing. Available in a single slice, baby and senior versions, as well. Located at 3203 52nd St, Kenosha, WI 53144.
2. Fraboni's - Madison

3. Baumgartner's - Monroe
Monroe's own Chalet Cheese makes the only Limburger in the US and Baumgartner's will serve it to ou on a sandwich with some of the best rye and onions - and a mint for when you're done. Not for the faint of heart (or overly gifted in the nose department) but a once in a lifetime sandwich nonetheless.
Located at 1023 16th Ave, Monroe, WI 53566.
4. Kroll's West - Green Bay
Locals head to Krolls' West for the butter burgers and their prime rib has been featured on TV, but if you ask me, the pulled pork is actually the best thing on the menu. Topped with fried onions, you will not be sorry you tried it. But really, Kroll's knows sandwiches, so a trip here really will never lead you astray no matter what you try.
Located at 1990 S Ridge Rd, Green Bay, WI 54304
5. Picnic Basket - Wauwatosa
Serving the Wisconsin suburbs for 30 years, there's really no sandwich on the Picnic Basket menu that will disappoint you. But for something truly different, try the Khaleesi Fire and Sweet Chicken. Grilled chicken breast, bacon, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, onion and a spicy sweet sriracha-honey dijon sauce lend a little fire and ice to this fabulous creation. Located at 10600 W. Bluemound Road, Wauwatosa, WI 53226
6. Solly's - Glendale
I understand that are people in the world who will say they don't like the idea of their hamburger sitting on a plate of melted butter. I hope those people will understand that we were not meant to be friends. This suggestion is pretty open - top the butter burger however you want, but get it on a pillow and refuse to feel shame as you enjoy its decadent buttery goodness. Located at 4629 N Port Washington Rd, Glendale, WI 53212.
7. CC Sandwiches - Cambridge
