As classic as they come, Mickey-Lu-Bar-B-Q in Marinette has been serving up fast food eats since 1942.

Like a blast from the past, the building oozes retro appeal - complete with neon-lit signage.

The vintage vibes extend to the interior, where you’ll find tabletop jukeboxes, vinyl seating, historic photos, and other nods to the past.

Among the décor that covers the walls, sits the eatery’s menu, which may not be huge but is sure to please.

Another thing about the menu that’s sure to get your attention is that it doesn’t include any BBQ, like the restaurant’s name implies. But that’s because the *Bar-B-Q* in its name refers to the charcoal grilling technique used to make Mickey-Lu’s signature burgers.

Loved by locals and tourists alike, the burgers have been voted some of the best in Wisconsin.

In addition to the cooking method, it’s the high quality ingredients, such as fresh-ground patties, that really set Mickey-Lu’s hamburgers apart from the rest.

Too good for any old buns, Mickey-Lu’s burgers come on Zemal hard rolls, which are toasted on the grill for just the right amount of crispiness.

Remember, the burgers are on the smaller side, so you’ll probably need to order a few. Or, you can always make yours a double.

And just like any other authentically retro burger joint, Mickey-Lu’s serves up deliciously thick malts and shakes.

Some things to remember when visiting this Marinette mainstay are that it tends to get crowded, so you may have to wait for a table and/or your food. Also, the eatery doesn’t take debit or credit cards.
