Mader’s can be found in Milwaukee’s Old World Third Street Historic District. Hard to miss, the stately restaurant looks like a castle on the outside.
And that regal charm extends to the interior, which boasts beautiful architectural elements and opulent features.
The décor is also on par with the royal theme.
Where else can you dine among a $3 million collection of art, antiques dating back to the 14th century, and suits of medieval armor?
There’s even a throne – otherwise known as “the big famous chair" – which guests can try out.
The big famous chair isn’t the only oversized item at Mader’s, though. There’s also the giant pretzel, which is equally as famous.
And the pretzel is just one of many German dishes that make up the Mader’s menu.
Since day one, which was back in 1902, Mader’s has specialized in German grub, making it Milwaukee’s oldest authentic German restaurant – and a great place to get a taste of Germany.
Between the castle-like appearance and fantastic fare, it should come as no surprise that Mader’s has received numerous awards over the years.
In addition to being named the state’s “best ethnic restaurant” by multiple publications, it’s been deemed a “not to be missed” destination on more than one occasion.
For more information, call Mader’s Restaurant at (414) 271-3377. You can also visit the Mader’s Restaurant website or Facebook page.
So, did you know about this regal-themed restaurant? Ever visited? If so, what’d you think of the setting? What about the food?
This isn’t the only place in Wisconsin that’s fit for a king (or queen). Read about another here.
