Ride A Scenic Train, Then Dine At A Train-Themed Restaurant All At This Historic West Virginia State Park

A train ride on the CSR is an item on the bucket list of nearly everyone who knows about the historic Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. But even if you've already ridden this nostalgic train, you likely want (or are already planning!) to do it again. But here's the thing: in addition to a world-renowned scenic train, this state park also hides a historic, train-themed restaurant, The Last Run Restaurant. Rail-themed day trip to Cass, West Virginia, anyone?!

First, the train ride: the Cass Scenic Railroad is a steam-powered tourist train with the largest fleet of geared Shay steam locomotives in the world.

Featuring multiple routes, open observation cars, and trains operating from May through December, the Cass Scenic Railroad offers a once-in-a-lifetime ride for young and old. As a caution, the rides fill up fast each season, so book early to snag a seat on a route along one of the highest non-cog railroads east of the Rocky Mountains!

But before you leave (or after you return) from your trip, fill up on a good, hearty meal from The Last Run Restaurant, a train-themed restaurant located next door to the depot and the Cass Company Store.

This sit-down restaurant serves up heaping portions of breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites.

From sandwiches to pizza to seafood and more, there's something to suit every taste on the menu at The Last Run.

In addition to good food, The Last Run Restaurant offers a cozy, old-fashioned atmosphere that allows you to relax while you wait for your train (or relax and enjoy reliving the recent experience again and again in your mind!).

The restaurant is open on a limited basis, thanks to the seasonal nature of the tourist train, so be sure to check their current schedule.
