In West Virginia, we love our small towns. We’re fiercely loyal to and protective of them, and for good reason–not the least of which is their food. I’m guessing that we all have at least one hidden treasure of a rural restaurant somewhere in the state that we’ll go out of our way to visit whenever we get the chance, right? In no particular order, here are 10 (or 11, depending on how you count) more to try.

There aren't many places that you can enjoy a West Virginia waterfront sunset as you eat, but here's one that's worth a special trip. The Prima Marina has been serving the Moundsville area for years, but it is under new management, and the food has only improved as a result. The view, however, is the same breathtaking sight it's always been!

Greg's offers great food at a great price. One of Greg's most popular options is steamed or fried shrimp. And whatever you do, don't leave without trying the donuts! They alone are worth the drive.
Emerita serves up the best Honduran and Salvadorian food in the state - partly because she grows many of the ingredients to her authentic dishes in her very own garden! Everything these ladies serve is made from scratch, so it's worth the wait. Delivery is also available to the Moorefield area.

Big Spring Fork provides nice culinary variety for folks visiting Snowshoe Mountain. They offer Taco Tuesday specials, trivia nights, live music, and friendly service. Plus, the food is fresh and delicious!
At The Oakford Diner, enjoy a tasty variety of food paired with excellent service, all at very fair prices. The Oakford Diner's menu includes standard favorites (try the apple crisp!) and daily specials (keep an eye out for their ramp dinners!).

11. Dana’s Sweet Selections Bakery (Harts)
Creeker's Diner and Dana's Sweet Selections Bakery share a building. What a partnership! Creeker's Diner serves up country favorites - sandwiches, salads, chicken nuggets, and macaroni and cheese, to name a few. For dessert, Dana's offers almost any type of pastry you can imagine, from cupcakes and donuts to truffles and Bavarian custard-filled delights.
