Where can I find more covered bridges in West Virginia?

West Virginia has many covered bridges you can visit. Aside from the Philippi Covered Bridge, you can head to Metz to view the Fish Creek Covered Bridge dating back to the late 1800s. Or go to Barrackville to see the Barrackville Covered Bridge which happens to be the second oldest in the state. You can see these and several others on our road trip to see six of West Virginia’s covered bridges in one day.

Where can I find the best architecture in West Virginia?

The Mountain State may not be best-known for its architecture but there are plenty of beautiful houses and buildings around that are worth seeing. Head to the small town of Wheeling where you can find some of the best examples of Victorian architecture in the country. In the North Wheeling Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, you’ll find several Victorian houses built between 1850-1910.  This neighborhood also has many preserved Greek Revival buildings as well. You can learn more about Wheeling in our full coverage. Another impressive piece of architecture is the West Virginia Capitol Building in Charleston and it happens to be the tallest building in the state.
