As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.

West Virginia may be a landlocked state, but that does not mean that we’re short on fun ways to cool off in the water each summer! Creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes, swimming holes – options for cool summer fun abound. And then, there are the water parks in West Virginia. Floating oases of fun in the sun, West Virginia waterparks, both those on privately run resorts and those compliments of the West Virginia State Park system, are top-notch. But one of the most epic waterparks in West Virginia, one that deserves a visit this summer, is the waterpark at ACE Adventure Resort in the New River Gorge region.

Where Can I Find The Best Waterparks In West Virginia?

ACE Adventure resort might have the most famous water park in West Virginia, but the state has some other wet-and-wild adventures waiting during the summer months!

  • Water Ways is a small waterpark located in Julian, about 26 miles from Charleston, and it packs a lot of thrills into a small space. Featuring several exciting waterslides, it's usually packed on hot summer days. One of the slides has a unique feature - you ride it in an inner tube, and it deposits you neatly in the park's relaxing lazy river! The lazy river actually takes you on a tour of most of the park's water areas, circling around the whole park.
  • Big Bear Lake is home to a campground and RV resort, and this retreat offers you access to the Bearfoot Springs Waterpark! This campground waterpark features two massive waterslides, a splash area for kids, and a 400-foot lazy river. The campground is a resort in its own right, featuring a mini-golf course and other amenities. You do need to book a stay at the campground to visit.
  • JayDee's Family Fun Center is an indoor-outdoor amusement park, featuring such great summer activities as an arcade, mini-golf course, batting cages, and even a go-cart track. However, the highlight is definitely the waterpark featuring a variety of thrilling slides and a splash area for younger kids. The biggest thrill is definitely the massive red slide that sends you hurtling down into the central pool!
  • Splash Zone in Clarksburg is an old-school waterpark with a massive swimming pool perfect for a dramatic cannonball! It features a lazy river perfect for floating away a hot summer day, as well as a splash area for the youngest kids who might not be ready to swim on their own yet. This is a great budget park for families looking to cool off, with just enough thrills to keep older kids engaged.
