This Mom And Pop Diner In West Virginia Has Been Serving Up Classic Dishes Since 1960
No matter the size, every town in West Virginia seems to have that one restaurant that’s been around forever and is always seemingly filled with locals. (Check out 14 of those restaurants here.) In Nitro, Diehl’s (pronounced ‘Deals’) is an institution. This local icon opened way back in 1960 and has been charming customers’ taste buds ever since with home cookin’ just like your Mom used to make.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. Nostalgia is served up on a platter in more ways than one! Not only has the food not changed much in the last 59 years, but the decor is also reminiscent of a bygone era. The walls are covered with memorabilia ranging from old license plates to vintage toys and local photos. You definitely won't get bored while you wait for your food.

Menu choices include sandwiches, burgers, fried chicken, spaghetti, fish, a grilled ham steak, their signature roast beef and gravy, and to much more to mention here. Portions are generous, so come hungry!

Other flavorful sandwiches will answer just about any craving you may have including barbecue, chicken, fried flounder, BLT, and even a bologna and ham creation that'll make you think of summer afternoons when school was out and you didn't have a care in the world.

From graham cracker crust pies to chocolate cake and cheesecake with cherries, Diehl's knows how to please a sweet tooth.

Diehl’s Family Restaurant is open six days a week. The hours are Tuesday through Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
