You’ll Want To Ride The One Of A Kind Wooden Roller Coasters Found At Camden Park In West Virginia
West Virginia only has one amusement park in the whole state, but what a unique amusement park it is! Camden Park in Huntington is one of only 13 trolley parks left open in the United States, and the only one not associated with the end of an actual trolley line.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
But that's not the only thing that makes Camden Park super unique. Two of the only three operating traditional wooden roller coasters built by National Amusement Devices left in the nation are here at the park!
Known as the Big Dipper and the Lil Dipper, these rides hearken back to the mid-1900s, when amusement parks were a staple attraction for American families.
The Lil Dipper, a tamer version of the Big Dipper, is a perfect introductory coaster for young adventurers who are cultivating a love for wild rides, but aren't quite up to full throttle yet.
The two wooden Dippers aren't the only rides available at Camden Park, either... there are plenty of other options both for small kids and bigger ones, including calm boats, speedy water rides, and dizzying whirls!
Did you know the history of the Big Dipper and its unique significance as one of the only rides of its kind left in the nation? Do you trust its wooden support system and dare to ride it when you visit?

Even though Camden Park is West Virginia’s only amusement park, we do have a few other unique rides, including this aerial tram!
