You Can Cook Your Own Burgers & Steaks At Zodiac Supper Club In Washington

Zodiac Supper Club in Tacoma offers a unique dining experience where patrons grill their own food in a vintage, eclectic setting.

Typically, we go to restaurants so that other people will cook our food for us. But depending on what you order at Tacoma's Zodiac Supper Club, you might find yourself standing over a grill, cocktail in hand, flipping your own burger while you chat with fellow patrons. But don't worry -- it's all part of the experience here, and you'll actually love it.

Zodiac Supper Club opened in July 2015 in the St. Helens neighborhood, but two years later, they moved to the Hilltop neighborhood after a water pipe broke in their original building.

Luckily, even with the move, they kept the same character (and following).

The interior of this place is absolutely delightful, with vintage lamps, eclectic art, and rich red walls.

The vibe is eclectic, and that's just the way they like it.

Zodiac Supper Club is a 21 and over establishment, but it's just as much a restaurant as it is a bar.

In fact, it's designed to function like an old school supper club. Dana Verellen, who owns the bar with her husband, Dave, grew up with family in the restaurant business, and she witnessed the success of lots of grill-your-own supper clubs.

Here's how it works: you order a steak, burger, skewers, or some chicken sausage, and it's served raw with as much seasoning as you'd like (and salad and garlic bread, the latter of which you can also grill).

Then, you cook it yourself on a community grill in the center of the room (and yes, they'll help you if you need it).

This might seem odd, but this style of supper club has been around for generations.

Standing at the grill with your dining companions just might lead to making a new friend or two. It certainly encourages friendly conversation.

Need to encourage friendly conversation even more? Order a fruity cocktail from the creative menu.

With names like The Fifi, The Blue Moon, and the notorious Zombie Volcano Bowl (which is meant to be shared), they're tough to resist.

The cook-your-own meats are definitely the most popular choice here, but if you're not up for it, they also serve snacks, salads, and sides.

The Potato Salad Flight is particularly popular.

Zodiac Supper Club is open Tuesday - Sunday from 4 p.m. - 2 a.m.

This quirky spot will steal your heart (and fill your belly).
