The staircase was in the middle of the cemetery and the steps seemed to lead nowhere, going down into the earth. It is said that they led to a family's underground tomb. Supposedly, if you walked down the steps, you suddenly couldn't hear anything above you, even though you were only a few feet away. Turning around towards the bottom of the steps would allegedly show you a glimpse of hell. According to local stories, people would sometimes go down the steps and never return. The steps were demolished several decades ago, but legends still persist about them.

According to local legend, the bar is haunted by a ghost who enjoys playing at the piano when the bar is empty. Employees and guests often report feeling cold drafts of air blow by even when the doors are shut, or feeling a presence behind them.
