Some Of Washington’s Most Delicious Italian Food Is Served Inside Renovated Old House In Tacoma

Marzano Italian Restaurant in Parkland, near Tacoma, offers authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy, converted home setting.

We're lucky to have some wonderful Italian eateries here in Washington. From the legendary Pink Door at Pike Place Market to Europa in Spokane, there's no shortage of tasty Italian cuisine in the Evergreen State. But if you happen to live in the Tacoma area, you'd be hard-pressed to find better than Marzano Italian Restaurant. This feels like dining at your Italian grandmother's house... that is, if Nonna was a professional chef.

Marzano is located inside a converted home in Parkland, which sits about 10 miles south of Tacoma.

If you haven't heard of it, you're not alone. This place is a true hidden gem.

Marzano opened in 1998, when owners Elisa and Brian Marzano, a mother and son duo, decided to pursue their love of Italian cooking.

They assembled a team to help them create simple, authentic cuisine.

Marzano is open Tuesday - Saturday for both lunch and dinner, although they do close from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. to prepare for their busy evenings.

Elisa is the head chef, while Brian focuses more on restaurant management (and wine recommendations).

When you visit, come hungry, because the food is out of this world.

If you've ever been to Italy, you may recall that Italian cooking is very simple. They are able to pull this off without the food being bland because they use nothing but the freshest, most flavorful ingredients.

Elisa is originally from Northern Italy, and that's where she draws inspiration for her cooking.

In addition to classic pasta dishes, you'll see plenty of meaty entrees and seafood on the menu.

For such a small restaurant, the menu here is pretty substantial, meaning you'll have plenty to choose from.

If you enjoy Italian food at all (and who doesn't?), you'll find something delicious to enjoy.

Currently, Marzano is accepting reservations for its outdoor seating area and offering tasty takeout to the community.

Reservations are highly recommended, but you can make them yourself on the website.
