Affectionally known as “little Norway,” Poulsbo is one of the most picturesque little towns in northern Washington, and it’s an ideal destination for a day trip. Historically inhabited by the Suquamish people, Poulsbo was founded in the 1880s by Norwegian immigrant Jørgen Eliason, who was drawn to the area for its rich resources and a similar landscape to his Norwegian roots. The town even spoke Norwegian as its primary language all the way up until World War II.

Today, Poulsbo fully embraces its Scandinavian roots with several annual events celebrating its Norwegian heritage, so be sure to check the events calendar to see what's on the horizon before your visit.
