From the outside looking in, The Shack may not appear to be the mouthwatering, highly-rated restaurant that it is. Its tiny size and unassuming location could cause the onlooker to keep walking, in search of something more obvious and traditional. And yet this would be a mistake, because this hidden gem in Staunton is an experience of fine dining without the massive price tag. Here’s more on this little-known restaurant that’s definitely worth the search:
Along one of Staunton’s picturesque roads, you’ll stumble upon The Shack Restaurant. The exact address is 105 S Coalter St., Staunton VA 24401.
The name is a play on the size of the venue, but also in honor of chef Ian Boden’s mother-in-law, who at one point did live in a modest shack. A picture of her hangs on the wall inside, setting the stage for this down-to-earth establishment.

With only 16 seats inside, The Shack is almost always packed. Making a reservation is definitely recommended.
