We asked our readers on our Only in Virginia Facebook Page what the most beautiful lakes in Virginia are, and boy did y'all deliver! We received nearly 150 responses! We've compiled a list of some of the most popular submissions below. Did your favorite lake make the list?

1. Smith Mountain Lake

Created in 1963, Smith Mountain Lake is the second-largest freshwater lake in Virginia, and it might just be one of the most popular lakes in the state.

2. Germantown Lake

Fishermen know this lovely lake all too well! This 109-acre lake is a great spot to fish for bass, bluegill, black crappie, and channel catfish.

3. Lake Accotink

Surrounded by a 493-acre park of the same name, this scenic spot in Virginia is always a good idea. Just look at those views!

4. Claytor Lake

Pulaski County’s beloved lake clocks in at an impressive 4,472 acres and each and every acre is more beautiful than the next.

5. Lake Chesdin

One of the best lakes in Virginia to fish for bass, these two chairs are the perfect spot to sit for a spell and take in the beauty of this lovely lake in south-central Virginia.

6. Hungry Mother Lake

Nestled within Hungry Mother State Park, fall is clearly a prime time to visit this stunning lake.

7. Silver Lake

This Prince William Country treasure might have the most stunning sunsets of all the lakes!

8. South Holston Lake, Abingdon

Virginia may share this lake with Tennessee, but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful! It's easy to see why it's one of the most beautiful lakes in Virginia (and maybe Tennessee, too!)

9. Lake Barcroft

Although this Falls Church lake is a private lake, this pup still thinks it deserves a spot on the list, and we just couldn't tell the dog no. Just look at how happy it is.

10. Philpott Lake

Last but certainly not least, we have the 2,880-acre Philpott Lake. Surrounded by dense forest and rocky banks, this beautiful lake in Virginia sits at the foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge and is great for fishing, boating, swimming, and more.
