That's the inspiration behind today's road trip, which is one that will take you down I-81 with lots of fun-filled stops along the way. 1. Sclafani's New York Bagels & Bread

We've got an adventurous day ahead, so why not fuel up on some authentic New York-style bagels and coffee? Sclafani's New York Bagels & Bread is the real deal when it comes to breakfast done right. Whether you opt for a bagel and cream cheese, a bagel sandwich, or another baked good, you'll feel fueled up for a day full of adventures. Bagels > everything.

2. Seven Bends State Park

Situated on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, Seven Bends State Park is truly a hidden gem. It's located just a few miles from the historic town of Woodstock, offering visitors all kinds of unique recreational opportunities: fishing, boating, and eight miles of hiking trails. It's a wonderful place to stretch your legs before continuing along on our I-81 road trip. Of course, we wouldn't blame you if you wanted to stay a while... we do, too.

3. Meems Bottom Covered Bridge

Next up on our list is the Meems Bottom Covered Bridge, which is a bit off the beaten path but so worth the detour. Measuring 204 feet, it's the longest covered bridge in Virginia, and one of the last that supports traffic. In other words, you can drive your vehicle right through it! How cool is that?

4. Route 11 Potato Chip Factory

In need of a pick-me-up? How about a trip to one of Virginia's most famous chip companies, Route 11? This delicious factory is open to the public Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Walk inside, and you'll see big windows that offer perfect views of the potato chip frying process. Plus, you can stock up on all your favorite potato chip varieties! 5. Kline's Dairy Bar

Now that we've arrived in Harrisonburg, it's time to grab something sweet at Kline's Dairy Bar. This beloved local business has been serving up delicious food and ice cream since 1943. This spot offers milkshakes, banana splits, sundaes, double cones, frozen coffee drinks...you name it! No matter the time of year you visit, Kline's Dairy Bar is sure to put a smile on your face.

6. Virginia Quilt Museum

Next up on our list is the Virginia Quilt Museum, a fascinating three-floor historic home that contains some of the most beautiful quilts you've ever seen. The curated gallery space contains a range of styles, some of which date back as early as the 1800s. You won't regret stopping by this hidden gem of a museum in Virginia.

7. Devil's Backbone Brewing Company

Ready for a bite to eat? Devil's Backbone Outpost, located just outside of downtown Lexington, is a fantastic place to stop for a spell. You can enjoy some delicious craft beer, live music, and some seriously mouthwatering food, like this bowl of nachos. Plus, if you happen to visit on the weekend, you can sign up for a tour of the unique brewing facility.

8. Natural Bridge State Park

Last but certainly not least, Natural Bridge State Park concludes our 1-81 road trip through Virginia. This breathtaking natural attraction is one of the most famous in the state, and it's no mystery why. The geological formation towers 215 feet high and measures 90 feet across. the surrounding gorge has been carved away by Cedar Creek, a tributary of the James River. While you're there, be sure to explore the trail system and stop by the Monacan Indian Living History Exhibit.
