The Timeless Virginia Restaurant Everyone Needs To Visit At Least Once
So many aspects of Virginia are timeless: the history, landmarks, and even restaurants. In fact, there’s even a restaurant just north of Virginia that’s been a respite for diners and travelers since it opened in the 1700s. For a taste of unique history in every sense, be sure to visit the Half Way House Restaurant in Chesterfield.

As you can tell from the illustration above, little of the original manor house has changed since its construction.

During that time, the Half Way House Restaurant served as a horse change and rest stop for anyone passing through south of Richmond. The House quickly gained a reputation for being a place of rest and a warm meal. The site was given the description "Half Way" due to its location as half way between Richmond and Petersburg.

It’s not hard to imagine how this restaurant must have felt centuries ago. In its day, the manor house entertained guests such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee.

Some of the most popular menu items include duck breast, steak, Chesapeake Bay blue crab cakes, and delicious fried green tomatoes.

Surrounded by candlelight and historic charm, it’s hard to imagine a more enchanting dining space.
The restaurant can be found at 10301 Jefferson Davis Highway, North Chesterfield VA 23237. For more information about the Half Way House, including reservations and bookings, visit the website here. Have you dined at this historic landmark? Be sure to share your experiences with us!
