6 Virginia Restaurants With Eating Contests That Will Test Your Limits
There’s nothing quite like a challenge. Especially if that challenge involves food. Today we’re sharing 6 Virginia restaurants with eating contests that will test your limits. These restaurants in Virginia offer up some of the tastiest meals you can find – just in slightly larger portions. But the good news is that if you finish it all, your meal is free – and comes with a few prizes, the least of which are bragging rights. Just be sure to wear some stretchy pants…
If just wouldn't be fair if we didn't start this on a sweet note. And so we offer you the BR Frozen Custard and Sweets "Outrageous Split Challenge." This nearly 6-pound dessert features 9 scoops of frozen custard, 9 toppings, 3 bananas, 3 cherries and whipped cream. Finish it in under 30 minutes and you'll get it for free, along with your place in history on BR's Wall of Fame. Find out more at BR Frozen Custard and Sweets.
This isn't for the faint of heart -- or anyone who is put off by consuming a plate full of "Stupid Wings." But if you're brave enough to try and can get through 8 of these wings in 30 minutes or less - without having a drink and without your face melting - then you get an "I'm with Stupid" t-shirt or free wings. Your choice. Good luck! Learn more and watch videos of the "Stupid Wings Challenge" featured on Man vs. Food at Caliente.
The Burger Bar in Bristol is a hometown favorite, long revered for its tasty burgers. But 4 patties in one bun and 4 order of fries? If you're brave enough to give it a try, $20 will give you the chance to prove yourself and win a free shirt and induction into the The Burger Bar's Hall of Fame. Check out The Original Burger Bar to learn more.
4. The Dirty Buffalo "5 Pound Meal Challenge" - Norfolk
Ok, so 5 pounds isn't much, right? Unless, of course, it's all on one plate…at the same time. The Dirty Buffalo invites you to take on their "5 Pound Meal Challenge" - it's 1 pound of homefries, about 1.5 pounds of mac n' cheese, 2 cheeseburgers, 2 hot dogs, 2 chicken tenders, 12 ounces of pulled pork and 2 slices of bread - all covered in barbecue sauce. Eat it in 45 minutes and you'll earn the meal for free and the plate it was served on. Sounds like a good deal to me. Visit The Dirty Buffalo to learn more.
5. A Better Burger "Hungry Hillbilly Challenge" - Jonesville
Calling all hillbillies - or just those crazy enough to take on this monster. The Hungry Hillbilly Challenge at A Better Burger is the stuff legends are made of - many have tried it, but rumor is, none have succeeded. So if you think you can finish this beast, along with some chili fries, come on in, but be sure to bring your "A" game.
Oh! But wait. There's more! A Better Burger "Scorpion Wings Challenge
If the burger wasn't enough, The Scorpion Death Wings Challenge is waiting. To win, you'll have to finish 10 wings in less than 15 minutes, without dairy products, using only your hands, then you must lick all of the sauce off your fingers and complete a 5-minute "burn period," in which you must suffer the pain before having any kind of dairy products to cool your, now, presumably on fire, mouth. Winners get a free meal free, a bottle of Scorpion Death Sauce (because they are going to want more?!) and a photo posted on the Wall of Fame. If you fail? You pay for your meal, but you still get a photo - on the Wall of Shame. Choose wisely. Check out A Better Burger to learn more about both challenges.
6. Family Pizzeria "Steakosaurus Challenge" - Stafford
A 6.5 pound sirloin steak sub with 5 toppings that has to be eaten in less than 45 minutes. What could go wrong? Let's just say that the official rules cite that there will be a $50 clean-up fee for vomiting anywhere other than the designated area. All I can say is that rules exist for a reason. But should you finish this monster of a sub in the allotted time, not only is the sub free, but you'll walk away with a t-shirt and $20 in prize money. Check out all of the rules here.
But before you go…why not try a 28" pizza, as well?
Like A Better Burger, Family Pizzeria likes to offer options for your food eating challenge needs. For the Pizza Challenge, all you need to do is grab a partner, then, together, finish a 28", 2-topping pizza, crust included, in less than an hour. Winners receive 2 free t-shirts, $40 to split and the adoration of friends and family. Learn more at Family Pizzeria.
