Antimony, Utah is a small town in Garfield County that many Utahns don’t even know exists. Approximately 200 people live in this community and it is full of natural beauty. While Antimony isn’t at the top of many people’s bucket lists, there is a small body of water that makes for a sweet summer day trip — Otter Creek Reservoir. Located in Otter Creek State Park, this secluded area is perfect for a day on the water, to throw in a fishing line, or even to sleep under the stars.

Otter Creek Reservoir was actually created during one of Utah’s oldest dam projects. Beginning in 1897, construction on the dam began as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the area needed irrigation water for farming.

The completed dam is 40 feet high. At the time, it was considered one of the best and most secure earth reservoir dams in the entire country.
In 1965, the area opened to the public as Otter Creek State Park and since that time, it has become a fabulous place for a summer day trip.

Otter Creek Reservoir is a beautiful place for a day on the water. Bring some kayaks, paddleboards, boats, etc., and explore this small body of water. Pay attention to the crystal-clear color of this reservoir as you float along.

During the summer months, fishing boats, canoes, paddleboards, etc., are available to rent at the reservoir.
