Celebrating Its 100th Year, Log Haven Restaurant In Utah Has A Charming History
Log Haven is a historic and romantic restaurant in Utah known for its cozy atmosphere, scenic views, and gourmet food.
Log Haven has long had a reputation as the most romantic restaurant in the Beehive State, and it's been honored with piles of awards and accolades for its atmosphere, service and food over the last few decades. But long before it was a beautiful place to dine, this cozy log cabin had already had charming history.
Log Haven was built in 1920, and it was quite an endeavor. Logs were cut from the lush forests of Oregon, shipped to Utah, then hauled up Millcreek Canyon using a horse and wagon.
The pretty little log structure was an anniversary present from local businessman L.F. Rains to his wife. It was quite a gift!
The home was used as a summer retreat by the Rains family, then was purchased by the Miller family, who added onto the home and used it as a year-round residence. The Miller children enjoyed their own little ice rink on the pond across the street, as well as horse stables.
After the Miller family left, the cabin became a restaurant, but during the 1980s, the log home was in shambles and was going to be torn down. Margo Provost purchased the property and renovated it, opening Log Haven back up to the public in 1994.
Today, when you step into Log Haven, you'll be greeted by a warm, welcoming fireplace and sitting area.
You'll find that everything about Log Haven is warm and welcoming, from the pleasant staff to the cozy decor.
The main dining area seats up to 150 people, and its log ceiling beams are decked out in twinkle lights.
The large windows provide views of the Wasatch National Forest surrounding the cabin, as well as 40 private acres that include a waterfall.
In addition to the main dining room, Log Haven has several smaller rooms that are perfect for private parties. Our favorite is the Large Rains Room.
This dining room seats up to 50 guests, and features an entire wall full of books and antiques.
When the weather allows, guests enjoy their meals on the shady patio, which even allows well-behaved pups.
While the ambiance at Log Have is truly special, the food is just as amazing. You'll find fresh, creative salads...
...delicious, gourmet entrees made with locally-sourced ingredients...
...and decadent desserts that melt in your mouth.
We can't get enough of the flourless chocolate cake, served with raspberry sauce.
We can imagine that L.F. Rains would be thrilled to know that his anniversary gift is now the best place in Utah for proposals, weddings, and anniversary dinners!
Log Haven is open seven nights a week, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling 801-272-8255.
