Here in America, we pride ourselves on the majestic mountains that tower over our landscape. These mountains provide a sense of presence while also acting as a geological marvel, having stood for millions of years. In fact, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world can be found right here in America. Though relatively modest in height compared to other ranges, the Appalachian Mountain Range is impressive for its age. Naturalists believe the mountains formed over 480 million years ago and once reached heights comparable to the Alps or the Rockies.
