There’s a wonderful little mountain road that runs back and forth between Montana and Wyoming.
This road follows along US-212 as it winds through soaring mountain ranges and touches on the edges of many beautiful areas.
This is actually the only National Scenic Byway in all of Wyoming.
This gorgeous road is 68 miles long. It travels through Wyoming, then Montana, and back again.
37 of the 68-mile drive is all in the beautiful state of Wyoming.
There are many trailheads that spur off into stunning views and alpine lakes. Plan enough time for a detour or two to really experience this area.
The entire drive usually takes about 3 hours.

This road is actually the highest paved primary road in all of Wyoming.
The highest point is right along Beartooth Pass, where you will frequently see snow on the ground late in the warmer seasons. The pass comes in at a whopping 10,984 feet high.
You’ll travel through Shoshone National Forest, Custer, and Gallatin National Forest.
It will lead your right up to the entrance of the famous Yellowstone National Park. This amazing road is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
