Brodhead, a town of 3,200, is located in Green and Rock counties. It has a long history.

Just south of town is a historic marker for the Half-Way Tree, an old tree that supposedly identified for Native Americans the halfway point on a foot trail between the Mississippi River and Lake Michigan.

The town received its name as a tribute to Edward Hallock Brodhead (1809-1890), the chief engineer of the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad. He played a pivotal role as one of the earliest advocates for the establishment of the railway depot here.

One of Brodhead's notable landmarks is its Covered Bridge. This wooden covered bridge spans Norwegian Creek and is a picturesque reminder of the city's past.

It's a popular spot for visitors and photographers. Every August, the community celebrates the bridge with a Covered Bridge Festival.
