Wisconsin is one of those places I visit time and time again, and each time I find it more magical than the last. While the state is known for great cities like Milwaukee and Madison, it’s also home to some truly charming communities. There’s unparalleled access to crystal-clear lakes, endless wineries, and deep ties to American history within the Badger State. This list will cover three dreamy small towns in Wisconsin that are so picturesque you might think you’ve found yourself on the set of a TV show.

1. Sturgeon Bay

I’m a lover of all things Door County, and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, is one of the region’s best small towns. Sturgeon Bay has deep roots in the shipbuilding industry, and that connection still shapes the community today. For example, the Door County Maritime Museum lets visitors truly step back in time and experience the impact Sturgeon Bay’s industrial capabilities had on World War II and on regional business. Additionally, the town is home to beautifully preserved homes-turned-businesses like the 1886 Pembrooke Inn. 2. Delavan

The Lake Lawn Resort is arguably the focal point of tourism in Delavan. The resort, right on Delavan Lake, feels like a scene straight out of Dirty Dancing. With boat rentals, golf lessons, and beachfront games, you might find yourself thinking that Patrick Swayze is going to walk around the corner. Aside from the resort, Delavan has a beautiful, historic downtown. Founded in the 1830s, the main drag still evokes a bygone early Midwestern era.

3. Lake Geneva

On the shores of Geneva Lake is the small town of Lake Geneva (a little confusing, we know). Just a short drive from Delavan, Lake Geneva has been a playground for the Chicago elite since the days of Al Capone and the iconic Wrigley Family (Yes, like the Chicago Cubs). Today, Lake Geneva boasts one of the state's more charming and historic downtowns.
