Here Are The 10 Most Enchanting, Magical Christmas Towns In Wisconsin

It's the most wonderful time of the year and time to start planning how you'll enjoy the festive time and get yourself geared up for the holidays.

All across the state, there are light displays, festivals and events to keep you cheery and ready for a visit from the big guy in the red suit.

In alphabetical order, here are 10 Wisconsin cities that will help make your Christmas very merry indeed.

1. Cambridge

From December 2-4 Cambridge hosts events from sun up to well after sundown including a breakfast with Santa, hayrides, shopping for children, carolers and everything else to help you get in the Christmas spirit.

2. Cedarburg

From Festive Friday Eves and art fairs to a holiday film series at the local independent theater, there's plenty to keep you busy. Plus, you'll find gifts for everyone on your list in the shops lining the main street.

3. Door County

So this is not technically a town, but a collection of them - but there are trolley tours, wine tastings, Christmas lights galore, plays, and meals. You'll be busy from Thanksgiving right on through to Christmas.

4. Elkhart Lake

Open December 2-11 from 10-5 daily, the 19th century style German Christmas Market at the Osthoff is chock full of European treasures, German food and all takes place in the comfort of a heated tent.

5. Hayward

From November 25 - December 31, Hayward is lit up with thousands of lights while the town turns on the charm with tons of contests, sleigh rides and Hot Chocolate Crawls to get you in the holiday spirit.

6. Ripon

From December 2-4, Ripon transforms to a Dickensian paradise. Live reindeer, strolling carolers, living window displays and a fruit cake toss are just some of the things work checking out.

7. Sparta

With a bonfire, parade, carolers and hot chocolate, it's impossible to feel like a Grinch in Sparta.

8. Stockholm

For four consecutive weekends beginning this Saturday, November 26th and continuing through December 17th, Stockholm transforms itself to celebrate their heritage and Jul - a Swedish Christmas. There are visits from jultomte (gnomes), St. Lucia and Julbock, the gnomes' pet goat. There are bonfires, luminaries and fire dancers. And there's plenty of food and shopping.

9. Tomah

The city has a month-long schedule of events to keep you busy and in the spirit of the holidays. There's a holiday parade, a play, a Christmas run, breakfast with Santa and a visit from the Canada Pacific Holiday Train.

10. West Bend

From November 25 through December 31, check out the lights in Regner Park. On Friday and Saturday nights, there are $5 horse and carriage rides. There's also live entertainment every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
