There's nothing like the taste of fresh, sweet strawberries, and the season is right around the corner. This year start a new family tradition by going to this little family farm to pick your own berries. It's the perfect spring day trip!
Sunset Berry Farm & Produce is a family-owned farm that got its start back in 2010. The owner has been growing strawberries since he was just nine years old, and he's definitely perfected his crop. You'll find the farm on Flat Mountain in Alderton.
The address of the farm is 791 Laurel Creek Rd., Alderson, WV 24910.
The farm includes five acres of strawberry fields and three high tunnels, so there are plenty of berries to be picked.
Once ripe, these berries are incredibly sweet and delicious. In fact, the berries at Sunset Berry Farm have been named West Virginia's Sweetest Berries.
Bring the whole family for a fun afternoon of strawberry harvesting. Even the littlest family members will want to get in on the fun...
...and they'll be happy to serve as the official family strawberry taster! The farm also offers education classes and field trips.
Visit the farm to harvest your own strawberries, or stop by to pick up a pint or gallon that have already been picked. Sunset Berry Farm also dips hundreds of strawberries in chocolate every year, and these sweet little morsels make perfect gifts.
The berries aren't quite ready yet, but the picking season will start soon. Keep an eye on the farm's Facebook page so that you'll know the moment the berries are ripe and ready.
