Port Townsend is located at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula.

Being surrounded by the waters of the Pacific gives it an enchanting look.

In 1792, the bay was named "Port Townshend" by Captain George Vancouver.

The official European-American settlement of the city took place in April of 1851. By the late 19th century, Port Townsend was a well-known seaport.

Port Townsend is also called the "City of Dreams" because of the early speculation that the city would be the largest harbor on the west coast of the United States.

These days, Port Townsend is known as a vibrant Victorian seaport and arts community.

There's something about a Victorian community on the shores of the sea that gives this place a fairytale vibe.

This fairytale town even has its own castle.

Completed in 1892, the Manresa Castle is now a hotel but was once the home of Charles and Kate Eisenbeis, prominent members of the early Port Townsend business community.

The castle, which is rumored to be haunted, sits high above the city.

Port Townsend hosts several festivals every year, including the Victorian Festival in early April.

A walk through this charming downtown area feels like strolling through a real life fairytale kingdom.

Being surrounded by natural beauty doesn't hurt, either.
