Vermont is home to many charming small towns with populations under 300 people, each with unique characteristics and scenic beauty.
As the state with the second lowest population in the country, as well as the smallest state capital by population (the only one with under 10,000 people), Vermont knows how to appreciate the small-town life. While you may have thought your town was tiny, you will be surprised how many communities are even more desolate and secluded. And I'm not even including all of the villages! Here are 18 incorporated tiny towns in Vermont that maintain a population below 300 people:
18) Granville, population 298
Some might know this town for the infamous Moss Glen Falls, but do you actually know anyone who lives there?
17) East Haven, population 290
There are only 8 people per square mile!
16) West Haven, population 264
This tiny town is located in Rutland County.
15) Guildhall, population 268
Apparently they're the only town in the world with this name.
14) Mount Tabor, population 255
If you've ever driven through this town in Rutland County, you might remember it as the "Sneakiest Speed Trap" in the country, as Mount Tabor seems to maintain a sufficient police force despite its tiny population.
13) Baltimore, population 224
Located in Windsor County.
12) Bloomfield, population 221
Located in Essex County.

Ok, so maybe you've heard of this one for the Ski Resort, but can you believe the population is so tiny?
10) Stannard, population 216
This town in Caledonia county doesn't even have one paved road.

This town in Essex country doesn't even have a town center or a gas station.
8) Norton, population 169
This town in Essex County shares a border with Canada. From 1970 to 1994 Norton was home to Earth People's Park, a somewhat hippie utopia open free of charge to anyone who wanted to live there until it was shut down due to border disputes.

This destination in Essex County used to attract many visitors for its six mineral springs, which are now owned by the Abenaki people.

You might know this town in Bennington County for its wind farm, boasting a total of 11 6-megawatt turbines owned by Green Mountain Power. Otherwise, you may never have heard of this town all together.
3) Lemington, population 104
This one is up in Essex County on the border of New Hampshire.
2) Granby, poplation 88
This town in Essex County with a nearly non-existent population was one of the last 2 towns to be connected to the electric grid in 1963 (along with the final town listed). When the sawmills were running this town a bit more action, but almost everyone left Granby after that era.

This minuscule, yet extremely beautiful town is right in Essex county where you can find many of these other small towns.
