This year, we honored the best pit stops in the U.S. across five categories: Quirky Attractions, Uncommon Overnights, Stop-Worthy Views, All Fuel Aside, and Pit Stop Bites as selected by our team of road-trip expert judges. We then asked you to vote on your top picks based on your road trips: Take a look at the fan-favorite Resites spanning from California to Florida, according to our readers.
The Reader’s Choice Resties Winners

Quirky Attractions Reader's Choice Winner
Abi and Nikki Rodriguez of @letsplayrideandseek are full-time road-trippers in their self-converted camper van. They selected the nominations for this category, and this is what they had to say about Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild:
“This park features a meandering path through an unusual sculpture garden. The sculptures were both interactive and thought-provoking for a visceral experience that will inspire you. It’s open 24 hours and free to enter. There is a restroom and picnic tables, which make it a perfect midday stop on a road trip.
Years ago, when we were road tripping through the Northwest, we happened across this quirky attraction, and it’s lived in my mind ever since."
Uncommon Overnights Reader's Choice Winner
Margaret and Corey Bienert of @aprettycoolhoteltour are on the search for theme hotels and unforgettable places to stay around America. Here’s what they had to say about the Madonna Inn, one of their nominations in this category.
“For anyone interested in themed stays or kitsch, over-the-top decor, Madonna Inn must be at the top of your list. This place feels otherworldly as every inch of the hotel, cafe, bar, and even outdoor spaces reminds you that you’re somewhere incredibly special.
The signature pink floral carpeting throughout the main building is a delight to see in person, and there are golden cherubs hanging from the ceiling, colorful stained glass on every window, and the rooms are all uniquely decorated in patterns, colors, and fixtures that feel straight out of a fairytale. Some of their rooms are even carved right into boulders, so you’re partially staying in a cave.
If you can’t stay the night, you can still enjoy a meal in their cafe or steakhouse, and either one is a glorious experience with endless details to enjoy. Oh, and don’t forget to try the Pink Champagne Cake.”
Pit Stop Bites Reader's Choice Winner
Jesse and Rachael Lyons, @thetasteforadventure have been road-tripping since 2018 and visited almost every U.S. state and over 40 national parks, finding the country's best food and beer along the way. Here's what they've shared about Day's Crabmeat & Lobster in Maine:
"A roadside lobster pound is a quintessential New England experience. Jesse is from Maine, and he says the locals' favorite is Day's Crabmeat & Lobster.
This seafood walkup window is on US-1, right off I-95 and down the street from the L.L. Bean boot. Chow down on fried seafood baskets, lobster dinners, and crabmeat rolls on weather-beaten picnic benches by the tide."
All Fuel Aside Reader's Choice Winner
Deyana Walker, a virtual special education teacher who has been living nomadically on the road for the past 3 years picked Stuckey's as her choice for the best fuel stop in the Southeast:
"If you're traveling to the Delmarva Peninsula or Chesapeake Bay area, you'll want to stop at Stuckey's. It's a long-standing Southeast franchise mainly known for its famous pecan log rolls. With a rapid expansion in the '60s and '70s, locations began to dwindle but are making a comeback thanks to the original owner's granddaughter.
This location in particular is owned by a couple outside of the family, but stays true to the Stuckey's brand. You'll find candy, Virginia smoked hams, and plenty of kitschy souvenirs. You can fill your car up on gas and fill yourself with food at the Southern Grille, serving up local 'scrapple' breakfast, sandwiches, and more."
Stop-Worthy Views Reader's Choice Winner
Katelyn and Howard Newstate of the Newstate Nomads selected this category. And with 7 years of full-time RVing under their belts, they've seen a scenic view or two.
“When road-tripping across Florida from coast to coast, one of the most iconic and scenic routes you can take is Highway 41, stretching from Naples on the Gulf Coast to Miami on the Atlantic. While it’s not the 'official' Alligator Alley, this route offers a far more immersive and up-close experience with Florida’s famous wildlife—especially alligators.
If you're hoping to see these incredible creatures safely in their natural habitat, this is the road to take, and the Oasis Visitor Center is a must-stop destination. We never miss it—it’s always an unforgettable experience! Conveniently located just off the highway, the site features a spacious parking area that can even accommodate RVs.
The main attraction here is the elevated boardwalk, which gives you a front-row view into the surrounding wetlands. You’ll spot birds, fish, and often dozens of alligators—basking on the banks, nestled in the brush, or gliding silently through the water.
The small visitor center also offers insightful exhibits about the local ecosystem, making it both an educational and wildlife-filled stop.”
