Take Texas’ Quilt Barn Trail For An Unexpectedly Awesome Day Trip

Most of us had a quilt we slept with every night as children. It signified warmth, comfort, and the love of whoever stitched it for us. Now, picture a square of that sacred blanket plastered outside barns in charming small-town Texas. This unique trail combines nostalgia, heritage, and history for a day trip you won't soon forget.

Quilts are inherently nostalgic and full of rich heritage, so this day trip is an opportunity to connect with your roots. Maybe you'll recognize some familiar patterns or symbols along the way!

From the area's most rural corners to downtown Bonham, not an inch of Fannin County is immune to the quilt barn contagion. Stay in your car, or take a walking tour and admire the designs while passing beautiful historic buildings.

In 2009, Governor Rick Perry introduced the proposition to connect all 254 counties of Texas via a quilt barn trail. That dream hasn't manifested just yet, but Bonham has gotten us off to a great start!

As you drive, picture one giant quilt made from stitching all the squares together. They might be physically separate, but this unique initiative has brought the county together in a beautiful way.
