The Outdoor Discovery Park In South Dakota That’s Perfect For A Family Day Trip

Our beautiful natural resources aren't just ours to enjoy - they're a legacy to leave for our children, as well. Teach them how to enjoy the great outdoors while they're young, and they'll have a lifetime of exploration ahead of them! A few months ago, we wrote about the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. There's a second location in Rapid City - take a look!

The Outdoor Campus West is operated by the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department. It's located at 4130 Adventure Trail in Rapid City.

Fishing is a lifelong activity that everyone can enjoy. In the fishing basics courses, kids and families can learn how to become expert anglers.

Learn how to handle a bow and arrow in an archery class.

Pick up some basic rock climbing skills (and have a blast) on the rock wall.

Take an Outdoor Skills class, where you'll learn to make an outdoor shelter, build a campfire, and more.

Take a paddling class, then get out there on the water and practice your new skills.

Even the littlest outdoor adventurers will find classes specially designed just for them.

Shooting skills and gun safety are important skills for all future hunters, and the Outdoor Campus is ready to teach kids 8-12 years old (using pellet guns).

The best thing about the classes at The Outdoor Campus? They're free!

Has your family visited either of the two Outdoor Campus locations? Tell us about all the fun you're had there!
