South Dakota has so many adorable towns, and they're even more charming when they're covered in a blanket of snow. Here are nine towns that will make you feel as though you've fallen into a snow globe this winter season.
1. Deadwood
Nothing looks cozier than Deadwood during the winter. Tucked away in the forest with the houses all aglow, it looks like something right off a postcard.
2. Sturgis
After the bikers leave Sturgis for the winter, it's a quiet, bucolic little town.
3. Rapid City
Rapid City's Main Street Square is magical in the winter. Have you been skating yet?
4. Pennington County
We're not sure exactly where this photo was taken, but it's definitely snow globe-worthy. South Dakota's rural spots are simply charming in the winter.
5. Sioux Falls
Falls Park, with its icy river and snow-covered grounds, is a winter wonderland.
6. Pierre
There's nothing like Christmas at the Capitol. With the pine trees dressed in colored lights and the capitol building aglow against a wintry background, the landscape is magical.
7. Keystone
OK, so Mount Rushmore isn't a town, but we're pretty sure we've actually seen a snow globe that looks exactly like this.
8. Watertown
Someone definitely shook the snow globe before they took this photo. Stop into the Terry Redlin Art Center to see some of Mr. Redlin's nostalgic winter-themed paintings.
9. Madison
An early morning on a snowy day in Madison. Don't think about shoveling the snow - just grab a cup of coffee, snuggle up in a quilt and enjoy the view.
