10 Charming River Towns In Rhode Island To Visit This Summer
Though Rhode Island is known as the Ocean State and offers dozens of amazing beaches across its coast, there are also several stunning rivers! Historically rich and charming towns are found along the banks of Rhode Island rivers that are just so worth stopping in to visit. Here are some of the best river towns in Rhode Island.
1. South Kingstown
South Kingstown is the largest town in Rhode Island and a wonderful place to visit in the summer! The Chipuxet River runs through town and is a popular kayaking destination. Other town attractions include the charming historic village of Kingston, wonderful restaurants, amazing museums, and local theaters.
2. Westerly
Westerly is a stunning town located on the western border of Rhode Island neighboring Connecticut. The Pawcatuck River runs through the town creating beautiful views. Enjoy both lovely restaurants and shops, and natural attractions alike.
3. Hopkinton
This small town is found in Washington County and offers amazing natural attractions. Enjoy hikes in Arcadia Management Area and the beautiful Wood River in Hopkinton.
