North Kingstown's Historic Wickford Village in Rhode Island offers a charming small-town vibe with historic homes, shops, and cultural events.
We love Rhode Island's charming little towns, and there are certainly plenty of them in the Ocean State. Here's a quaint little town with plenty of history, and once you visit, it will steal your heart forever.
The town of North Kingstown has around 23,000 residents, but its Historic Wickford Village has a charming, small town vibe that can't be beat.
This quaint village was formed in 1779, and today it's full of historic homes, antique shops, galleries, cafes and more.
You'll find dozens of beautifully-preserved, Colonial era homes and buildings here.
Each is unique, and you'll want to take a stroll through the village to get a peek at them.
The village is also the birthplace of one of America's most oft-seen but least known artists. Gilbert Stuart was born on this little farm in 1755. His portrait of George Washington is featured on the $1 bill. You can tour the home, built in 1750.
The Old Narragansett Church was built in 1707, and was moved to its current location in 1800. It contains one the oldest organs in the U.S..
Stroll past the Town Hall...
...and sit for a moment to enjoy Old Library Park.
Watch the boats come and go at Wickford Harbor, and dream of which one you'd like to own.
You'll certainly want to stop by Casey Farm in nearby Saunderstown. It's been producing food for the community since the 1700s, and six generations of the Casey family is buried there.
You can pick up some fresh produce for your own family when you visit.
After a full day of exploring, you'll want to enjoy dinner at Tavern by the Sea, which provides beautiful views of the marina.
You'll find a host of tastebud-tempting items on the menu, but the lobster rolls are especially delicious.
