The Fascinating Town Near Portland That Is Straight Out Of A Fairy Tale
Woodburn may seem like any other small town for most of the year, but like any good fairy tale, things are not exactly what they seem. For one month a year, this small town transforms into a sea of color that looks like it came straight out of the pages of a classic fairy tale and all are invited to explore the rolling fields of color.
From the end of March through April, the tulips are in bloom and the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is in full swing.
Featuring over 40 acres of tulips, this festival is the place to go for flower lovers.
Surrounded by rolling vineyards and distant mountains, it is a sight to behold.
On a clear day, Mt. Hood looms in the background, making this fairy tale location even more enjoyable.
You are given free reign to explore the fields in all their glory. Benches allow you to take in the scenery, and even stop for a picnic lunch.
For the kids, there are plenty of activities to stay busy: hayrides, cow train, and a kid's play area complete with zip lines, bungee jumper, rock wall and more.
And for adults, wine tastings are available throughout the day, as well as many different demonstrations such as wooden shoe carving.
If you see a flower that catches your eye, you can even pre-order bulbs for the fall.
Take a trip to this small town to be amazed at the fairy tale colors on display during this wonderful festival.
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival will take place this year from March 24 through April 30 and is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. For more information, visit the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival website.
