There is something endlessly charming about small towns, especially in terms of culture. There's always something to discover in teeny tiny communities, particularly when you're assessing the smallest towns in Oklahoma. Some are in the country far away from big cities, while others are just around the corner from all the hustle and bustle. Here are 12 of Oklahoma's tiniest towns:
1. Adair
Named after two Cherokee brothers, William Adair and Walter Thompson Adair, this town's population is 820. It is conveniently located about 10 miles north of Pryor.
2. Arcadia
Arcadia is home to two famous Route 66 landmarks, Round Barn and Pops. With just over 250 residents, Arcadia sees more visitors than that each day.
3. Blair
Located in the southwestern part of the state, Blair has a population of 806. It is the birthplace of former major league baseball player Bob Stephenson.
4. Carmen
Carmen has only 355 people and is located in Alfalfa County. It is only a total of 1.5 square miles.
5. Chattanooga
Chattanooga has just under 500 residents and is located in two counties, Comanche and Tillman.
6. Clayton
With so much beauty around Clayton, you might be surprised the population is only 795. It is a regional trading center and the beautiful Sardis Lake is only a few miles away. The mountains top out at 1,600 ft. in elevation.
7. Depew
Named in honor of New York Senator, Chauncey M. Depew, this small town is located in Creek County with 479 residents. A little retreat resides in Depew and offers a serene, relaxing environment.
8. Medicine Park
Located in the Wichita Mountains, this quaint, cobblestone resort town has only 414 residents. It has many visitors year-round coming to Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.
9. Okay
Everything is A-OK in Okay, Oklahoma. How many times do you think the residents hear that one? Boasting a population of just over 600, Okay can be found along the Verdigris River in Wagoner County.
10. Sentinel
If you've never been to Washita County, you'll be surprised at how petite its population is. Around 900 people live in Sentinel and enjoy quiet small town living in southwestern Oklahoma... a notable amount when you consider that the county seat has a mere 2,915 residents.
11. Tupelo
Next we're going to explore a community that spans only about a half mile of land. Tupelo, a southeast Oklahoma town, is home to 331 residents and is home to professional bull rider and "Amazing Race" contestant, Cord McCoy.
12. Vici
This small town in Dewey County was part of the filming of the 2010 movie, "The Dome of Heaven." It even featured some of its residents, but not all 696.
