Here in Ohio, there's no shortage of scenery. For proof of this, simply hop in the car and embark on a scenic road trip. One popular stop is the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Encompassing 3,300 acres, this landmark is a wildlife enthusiast's paradise. The best wildlife viewing times are in the early morning or dusk, so try to plan accordingly!
Another noteworthy stop is the beautiful Forked Run State Park. It's located in the heart of Appalachia, and a great place to spot riverboats, waterfalls, and wildlife.
Last, but certainly not least, Chilo Lock Park is worth a stop. For interpretive displays and hands-on activities involving the river's history, there's no better destination. Plus, it's the site of an old U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wicket dam.
