With a population of about 5,700 (when college is in session) this Licking County village is arguably "One of Ohio's Best Small Towns."

When school isn't in session, the town's population is approximately 3,600.

This Ohio town was founded by New Englanders from Granville, Massachusetts and Granby, Connecticut who were interested in finding more fertile farmland, according to the village's website.

Today, it's a beautiful little town with well-kept parks, one-of-a-kind shops and delicious local restaurants.

The town prides itself in its history and heritage. You'll find several historical markers and museums throughout town.

In fact, you'll find more than 10 museums and art galleries in Granville.

During your visit, you might consider staying at the historic Buxton Inn. It's gorgeous and supposedly haunted.

Founded in 1812, this historic hotel is reportedly haunted by former innkeepers—and rooms 7 and 9 are popular with guests seeking paranormal happenings.

Granville is also home to Denison University, which is a gorgeous private college you'll want to check out while you're in town.
