Ohio is very serious about its burgers—and we're grateful for that.
Nothing hits the spot like a juicy, perfectly topped burger. It's an art that not every burger joint can perfect. From the unsuspecting hole-in-the-wall to the famous, local fast food joint, there's a delicious burger trail here in Ohio that we know you'll want to follow. The next time you find yourself craving a juicy, flavorful burger, considering hitting the road and taking our Ohio burger trail for the best burgers in the Buckeye State.
With a total round-trip of just a little less than 5 hours, you can easily travel this burger trail over the course of a couple of days. For exact addresses and a Google Map of the trip, click here.
1. The Thurman Cafe (Columbus)
Tucked away in German Village at The Thurman Cafe are mouthwatering overloaded burgers just waiting for a contender to take on the joint's specialty, the Thurmanator. It's piled high with lettuce, tomato, mayo, American cheese, provolone cheese, ham, sauteed onions, mushrooms, a 12 ounce burger, bacon, cheddar cheese, hot peppers—and another 12 ounce burger.
2. Crabill’s Hamburger Shop (Urbana)
Now in its third generation of local owners, this tiny burger joint —with just eight dine-at-the-counter seats—appropriately specializes in tiny burgers. (White Castle's sliders will make you laugh after you've dined here.) Crabill's Hamburger Shop is located at 727 Miami St., Urbana, OH 43078.
3. The Spot To Eat (Sidney)
Both literally and figuratively, this is the spot to go to for a tasty, classic cheeseburger in Sidney. What started out as a chuck wagon more than 100 years ago is now a stationary old fashioned eatery that will make you feel like you've temporarily stepped foot into a Happy Day's episode. The Spot To Eat is located at 201 S Ohio Ave., Sidney, OH 45365.
4. Kewpee Hamburgers (Lima)
Within the fictionalized setting of "Glee," this signature fast food joint in Lima has three locations that serve up the city's best burgers, french fries and malts. When you're in town or passing through, you've got to stop for a Kewpee burger.
5. Wilson's Sandwich Shop (Findlay)
Essentially, you can't go wrong with anything you order at Wilson's Sandwich Shop. (But you simply have to order a burger here.) The hamburgers, chili dogs, french fries and frosties are all local favorites here. Wendy's has nothing on WIlson's, which is located at 600 S Main St., Findlay, OH 45840.
